This, of course, leaves him unfit for active duty. And while Adrian Monk may not be one of San Francisco’s finest in the truest sense, his brilliant analytical mind makes him an ideal consultant to the police force on their more difficult murder cases.

Third Watch

Third Watch (NBC)

Third Watch tells the stories of the members of the 55 Squad -- the police, firefighters and paramedics who work the "third watch" between 4 p.m. and 12 a.m. - the finest and the bravest who protect and serve the citizens of New York. The show balanced numerous single-episode events with other, ongoing storylines, some of which spanned multiple seasons. While Third Watch was lauded for its emotional and honest portrayal of the events surrounding the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it was also criticized in some circles for extremely detailed violence and prevalent (by network television standards) profane language. The show was created, produced, and written by John Wells.

Property Ladder (TLC)

It's one of the hottest trends in an already overheated real estate market today — buy a house, fix it up fast and sell it for a huge profit. After being married for fifteen years, Danny and Gretchen's story continues to teeter. They have survived addiction, infidelity, celebrity, Danny's "death wish" antics and a myriad of other issues - some relatable to an audience - some merely fascinating from a "train wreck" point of view. Somehow, these two demented soul mates have found one another, and one honestly gets the feeling that without each other they could not survive.

I Want To Be A Hilton (NBC)

I Want To Be A Hilton. Similar to The Apprentice, the contestants will reside at New York City's historic Melrose Hotel and be divided into two teams -- "Park" and "Madison." As they compete, Hilton will guide the contestants through a variety of glamorous Manhattan challenges that cover subjects ranging from art and culture to beauty and fashion. Similar to Donald Trump's reality series, each Hilton episode will end with the Hilton matriarch eliminating those contestants who "didn't make the list" in her own distinct version of "the boardroom." Tasks will include dog grooming, a fashion show and organizing a charity event.

Guilty Or Innocent (CBS)

No matter how precise the U.S. legal system is, verdicts often rely on circumstantial evidence or “reasonable doubt.” Prosecutors and defense attorneys may plead their case to the best of their abilities and jurors may use their keenest judgment in formulating a verdict, but it remains an imperfect system.

At each trial, someone had been convicted, but the guilt of that person or persons is now in serious doubt as respected legal organizations investigate and build evidence for appeals or pleas to reopen the case. Through reenactments and expert testimonies, the story of a crime is recreated from discovery of the crime scene through the investigation to conviction, employing flashbacks to reveal several possible scenarios. The episodes in the series are based purely on court documents, and legal counsel reviews every storyline. As these real-life stories unfold, prepare yourself for a journey of discovery where justice may not have been served and certainty will turn to doubt.

Committed (NBC)

Committed is the latest comedy with an edge from creators/executive producers Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline (“Roseanne,” “Murphy Brown” and “Ellen”) that casts an off-kilter eye on the bizarre whirlwind courtship of two opposites who attract each other despite outrageous circumstances.

Brilliant yet neurotic Nate (Josh Cooke, “Century City”) is a tightly wound ball of phobias until he accidentally unravels when he meets eccentric yet eternally upbeat Marni (Emmy Award winner Jennifer Finnigan, NBC’s “Crossing Jordan”). As fearful Nate and fearless Marni awkwardly begin their mating dance -- amid the eclectic craziness of New York -- their relationship’s yin and yang somehow match despite a closet-full of obstacles.

Law And Order (NBC Universal)

“Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” takes viewers into the minds of its criminals while following the psychological approaches the squad uses to solve the crimes. In true Sherlock Holmes-fashion, D’Onofrio (“Men in Black”) stars as Detective Goren, an exceptionally bright homicide investigator with well-honed instincts that match up favorably with his criminal quarry. Likewise, his partner, Detective Eames (Erbe, “Oz”), brings an independence and stylish edge to her work that meshes well with Goren.

“Law & Order: Criminal Intent” is a Wolf Films production in association with NBC Universal Television Studio and is Dick Wolf’s third installment of the “Law & Order” brand, the second-longest running drama series in the history of television. The "Law & Order" brand marks an unprecedented milestone this fall celebrating its 600th episode. Wolf, Rene Balcer, Fred Berner and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.

Medical Investigation (NBC)

Neal McDonough (NBC's Boomtown) and Kelli Williams (The Practice) return to series television as members of a mobile medical team from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) who are summoned in a heartbeat to scope out -- and hopefully snuff out -- outbreaks of unexplained and fearful diseases. These specialists drop out of the sky anywhere and have government carte blanche to take charge when people start dying, which requires them to medically re-construct grisly events to prevent the next epidemic, plague or contagion.

McDonough stars as Dr. Stephen Connor, the leader of the team whose take-charge attitude has enabled him to save the lives of millions, but in the process, has sadly cost the separated Connor his family. Williams portrays Dr. Natalie Durant, who specializes in pathology and epidemiology and works under the supervision of Connor, a man whom she respects, but is willing to stand up to in any life-threatening situation.

The Tonight Show (NBC)

Jay Leno follows in the footsteps of legendary NBC late-night hosts Steve Allen, Jack Paar and Johnny Carson and is the host of the Emmy Award-winning and top-rated “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Beginning his 15th season in May 2006, Leno has created his own unique late-night style with a combination of humor, talk and entertainment each night at 11:35 p.m. ET - the wee hours when viewers want to wind down with a few laughs before drifting off to dreamland. Considered by many to be a “variety” show, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” features a nightly monologue and news-making guests, as well as ongoing comedy segments including “Headlines,” “Ask Jay Anything,” “Stuff We Found on eBay,” “Jaywalking” and “Battle of Jaywalking All-Stars.” The result is a unique and humorous look at today’s pop culture.

House (NBC Universal)

From executive producers Paul Attanasio, Katie Jacobs, David Shore and Bryan Singer comes a new take on mystery, where the villain is a medical malady and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients. DR. GREGORY HOUSE (Hugh Laurie) is devoid of bedside manner and wouldn’t even talk to his patients if he could get away with it. Dealing with his own constant physical pain, he uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor. While his behavior can border on antisocial, House is a maverick physician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts have afforded him a great deal of respect. An infectious disease specialist, he’s a brilliant diagnostician who loves the challenges of the medical puzzles he must solve in order to save lives. House’s roster of medical cases comprises the inexplicable ones other doctors can’t solve, and he has assembled an elite team of young medical experts to help him in his effort to solve these diagnostic mysteries.

In 2006, due to the XX Winter Olympic Games, the Stanley Cup playoffs and the Daytona 500, NBC scaled back from weekly coverage to scattered coverage during the regular season, but is committed to a full playoff schedule ending with the 20th Arena Bowl.
